Nutrigenomics and Nutrition: The New Era
Kristin Connor December, 2002
Over the past thousand years, scientific research has evolved to advance our understanding of all areas of the natural world, including the study of nutritional sciences. The "Naturalistic Era" of 400 B.C.-1750 AD saw scientists and philosophers theorizing about the function of the body and its response to external factors such as food, however little knowledge was gained during this period with respect to the science of nutrition1. The "Chemical-Analytical Era" of the late 1700’s was hallmarked by calorimetry studies by Lavoisier1. This era brought with it newfound knowledge of food composition and the role of foods in metabolism, as well as the mechanistic processes involved in digestion and utilization of foods1.

The Period of Renaissance is the darkest age for nursing because of the renewed interest in the field of Philosophy, Science, and Arts. Society didn't give much importance on nursing. The locality of nursing services was mainly home-based.
Nursing was looked down upon by society for the nurses attending weren't trained- they didn't receive formal education and prejudices of the society that the women there were sleepers and criminals.
In the collage, the cartolina/poster paper is black representing the darkest age of nursing. Man which symbolizes society at that time is mainly composed of philosophy, science and is holding art works with pride. There is a glow in the painting to signify that this was the "fad"

patype din:
REVOLUTION (15th century) -many European power expand their teritories due to this health problems infectious diseases, nutritional disorders, starvation, complication of pregnancy arise.
Mid 17th century - health care delivery system improved due to the development in Nursing knowledge, but still health care is poor because hospitals are only present in big cities..
The RED CARTOLINA represents tyhe blood/war during the period of revolution.
RENAISSANCE -known as the "darkest age in nursing" because nursing loses the interest of the people for they are already interested in philosophy, arts and science. -nursing becomes home-based and the acting nurses are the criminals and prostitutes. But then all thingscome to end during the reformation period when people are slowly being educated for nursing especially the monks and other eligious order.
The BLACK CARTOLINA represents the "darkest age of Nursing"
(continuation on tin)
REFORMATION -Nursing was accepted as a profession and social acceptance of the public was present. -the awareness and consciousness increased society's attitude toeard health and the became more compassionate. -Hospitals were opened to those with work-related illness and injuries and physicians recognized the need for competent hospital nurses. -training program for nurses were develop.
The YELLOW CARTOLINA represents the upcoming bright future of nursing as a profession and the minimal reeforms that has been made.
